What is solar earth charging?

David Nicholson-Cole at the Department of the Built Environment at the University of Nottingham discusses solar charging, which he describes as ‘the process of using solar collectors to dump solar (and air) heat into deep boreholes during the summer months, to retrieve during winter months using a ground source heat pump.’
